|Residents oppose landfill changes|

A request by the City of Gering to modify its current permit for cell six at the Gering landfill drew strong opposition from residents who live around the landfill area.
The opposition came during a public hearing scheduled last week during a visit from the Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality (NDEQ). The hearing, held July 12 in Gering City Hall, was moderated by NDEQ attorney Tim Doyle.
