At the southwestern edge of the city limits of Topeka, Kansas lays a large mound of earth known as Burnett’s Mound. Prior to the late 1800s it was known as Webster’s Mound and before that, Knox’s Mound. The history of Webster and Knox has perhaps been lost within the age-yellowed and brittle pages of misplaced diaries or lie in unmarked graves with the buried memories of forgotten pioneers.
