Minatare Public Schools is returning its entire teaching staff from last year, but is also adding one new part-time teacher.

Roger Holsinger, a 1987 graduate of Chadron State College with a degree in Speech, is a first time teacher after spending more than 20 years in journalism. He’s worked at four newspapers, three radio stations and is the owner of Holsinger Photography.

Holsinger will teach writing, speech and English classes in grades 7 – 12 at both Minatare and Bayard. He will also coach the speech team.
“I was involved in the Scottsbluff High School speech program a couple of years ago as an assistant coach,” Holsinger said. “That experience spurred me to get more involved in an area that involved students.”

He added he really likes the direction education is currently going as teachers get more involved in what they’re teaching, realizing it will have a real life application for students’ futures.

He’s currently working on his Language Arts endorsement through the University of Nebraska at Kearney. His student teaching requirement will be covered by being in the classroom this school year.
