In the absence of Minatare’s annual Tabor Days, a group of community boosters wanted to continue the fun tradition into the future.
The Minatare Community Development Organization has scheduled a mud volleyball tournament for Saturday, Aug. 16 on Main Street by the water tower.
Organization member Lori Lore said the tournament is $10 per person with a minimum six-person team. If the team is coed, it must be 50 percent women. There’s a limit of 25 teams, so early registrations should be made by Aug. 12. First serve is at 8 a.m.
“We’re also doing a 5K run/walk that day,” Lore said. “Anyone interested in registering for that event should call Tristen at (308) 631-5949.”
There will also be food vendors on site and T-shirts and hats will be available for sale. And the Remington Club, across the street, will have a street dance and beer garden for the day.
“That’s pretty much all we have going on,” Lore said. “Each year as we continue to do this, we’ll grow a little bit each time.”
Persons interested in signing up for mud volleyball should contact Lore at (308) 672-7059 to get a registration form.
“All of us in our group were previous members of the Minatare Chamber,” she said. “We formed our own organization to keep the activities going.”
