Deanna Floe - Summit Christian College Choir Director
Cozad, Neb. native Deanna Floe will take a new position as choir director at Summit Christian College in Gering this fall.
After high school, she moved to Lincoln, where she attended Nebraska Wesleyan University, where she graduated in 2012 with a degree in music education.
“I came west to Scottsbluff to student teach,” she said. “I liked it so much I stuck around.” Currently, she’s a substitute teacher in the Scottsbluff school district, operates a private voice studio and works part time at The Emporium in Scottsbluff.
“Summit had contacted one of the pastors who’s involved in the music program at my church,” she said. “I was looking for a job at the time when they contacted me.”
Deanna will be directing the Summit Christian College Choir, which goes on a 10-day spring tour. She will also teach private voice for interested students. She will also be involved in the college’s outreach team that attends recruiting events around the area.
Deanna was also one of the featured singers with the Galaxy of Stars at this year’s Oregon Trail Days celebration. “I started singing with the Galaxy of Stars organization when I was about 13,” she said. “I recorded a demo in 2008 because I thought my career would be in performing. But in college I discovered how much I love teaching.”
She still sings with the Galaxy of Stars organization at fairs and other events throughout the summer.
Hayley Herzog, publications specialist with Summit Christian College, said Deanna will make great addition to the staff and faculty, educating people for Christian leadership.
