Although this year’s harvest of dry edible beans is just getting underway, area producers are expecting a large crop for 2014.
“The quality of the crop is good for this year,” said Nolan Berry, Gering branch manager for New Alliance Bean and Grain. “What makes us nervous at this time of year is the weather. We usually don’t have a weather change until Sept. 20. A hard frost could change everything.”
