The Panhandle Business and Professional Women recognized Monica Bartling as its Woman of the Year at its recent awards luncheon.
The award is presented for outstanding career achievement, outstanding effort on behalf of the group, outstanding assistance to other women in their career development, outstanding guidance to youth and young career women and outstanding community service.
Professionally, Monica is a 27 year veteran of the Nebraska State Patrol. Prior to moving to Scottsbluff in 1999, she was instrumental in creating what is now CAPstone Child Advocacy Center, a safe place for children to tell their story that have been physically and/or sexually abused.
She served on the CAPstone board as President from 2000-2006 and continued at some capacity until 2011. After a year hiatus, she rejoined the Board in 2012 and currently serves as Vice President.
She is also a member of Rotary International, St. Francis Episcopal Church, currently serving of the Vestry Board, Special Olympics, and Nebraska Coalition to End Sexual and Domestic Violence, currently serving on the statewide board. She also currently serves as Board President of Leadership Scotts Bluff.
