At first, Jason Fulk couldn’t believe it. But when Jeana Allen called from the United Way of Western Nebraska, it sank in – he and his wife, Brenda, had won a 2011 GMC Terrain in this year’s Duck Dash.
“We’ve always donated to the United Way because they support some good causes,” Jason said. “But it’s exciting to win something this big. It’s just an added bonus.”
Jason said Brenda hasn’t given the ok yet, but they’ll probably drive their new truck up to Laramie to watch the Wyoming-Nebraska football game on Saturday.
Jeana Allen, United Way special events coordinator, said they sold 14,161 ducks for Saturday’s event, recalling they started nine years ago with a total of 3,000 being sold.
Lynn Garvin won the second prize of a 2011 Honda 4WD ATV, donated in part by Sandberg Honda. Third place was a cruise, provided by McDonald’s of Scottsbluff, Gering, Alliance and Torrington. Raymond Schulz was the winner.
Other winners included a Traeger Grill from Johnson Cashway Lumber, won by Joe Petersen. Barry Wheeler won two round-trip tickets from Scottsbluff to Denver, provided by Great Lakes Aviation. Danny Carter won a patio set from Target. Luggage sets from JC Penney Co. went to Connie Russel and Michelle Anderson.
