|Valley Insurance to change ownership|
|July 01, 2015 Jerry Purvis|
As of July 1, Bridgeport headquartered Plummer Insurance has taken over Valley Insurance, a division of Valley Bank and Trust Company.
Plummer Insurance will remain in downtown Gering in the former Valley Insurance building. Valley’s Scottsbluff office will be merged into the Gering office.
“Our agency has been exploring the opportunity for expansion for about five years,” said Plummer Insurance president Andrew Plummer. “We started discussions with Valley Insurance about four months ago. It happened to be a perfect fit for us geographically and the companies we represent.”
With the acquisition, Plummer Insurance now has three new offices: Gering, Bayard and with Western States Bank in Ft. Collins, Colo. They have another branch in Oshkosh and two smaller agencies in Grant and Wauneta, which aren’t full service.
“We offer a large variety of products in the property and casualty side, specialty insurance, crop insurance, life and health and much more,” Plummer said. “We also represent some companies that are a bit different than other agencies in the community.”
Plummer said he sees the venture more as a collaboration with Valley Bank rather than just a buyout, as they’ve signed a long-term lease for the offices. “We want to be there for the long haul and make the transition as seamless as possible. We’re especially excited for the opportunity to be active in our new communities and look forward to meeting policyholder as we make this transition.”
He added a lot of the same familiar faces will be in their new Gering office as most of the staff will remain in place. Chappell native Luke Johnson, who has been in the insurance industry since 2008, will be the new Gering branch manager.
Valley Insurance Vice President Amy Doll said the divestment will allow Valley Bank and Trust Company to focus on their core banking business.
