Tucked neatly in the crook of Nebraska’s Panhandle, Sedgwick County, Colorado has bragging rights to the only two Pony Express stations in the state. Following the southern banks of the South Platte River, the Pony Express dipped down into the extreme northeast corner of Colorado Territory after leaving Diamond Springs. The first westbound stop in Colorado was South Platte and the second was Julesburg.
