|Sidney tops field at Gering Invite|

The Sidney Red Raiders girls’ golf team carded a total of 353 points to take the championship at the Gering Invitational meet on Tuesday at Monument Shadows Golf Course.
Scottsbluff was close behind, posting a team total of 360. They were followed by McCook at 371 and Gering placed fourth at 406.
Ogallala was in fifth at 418 and Chadron took sixth at 454. Bayard was seventh at 464 and Bridgeport was at 535.
Among the top 10 individual results, Scottsbluff had golfers in second and third, as Hannah Holloway posted a 78 and Shelby Poynter was a stroke back at 79. Gering’s top individual scorer was Jaylen Beam, carding a 97 for 13th place.
Scottsbluff was led by Holloway and Poynter. Teammates Rachel Hancock carded a 99 for 15th place, followed by Jordan Hoxworth at 104 for 20th place, Karlie Johnson at 106 for 24th place and Ashlynn Haun at 109, placing 27th.
Gering’s top individual scorer was Jaylen Beam at 97, followed by Bailey Kreider at 102 for 16th place, DJ Bokelman a stroke back at 103 for 18th, Allysa Hoagland at 104 for 19th place, Ashley Mitchell at 105 for 21st place, and Megan Maser at 120.
“My girls struggled some today on the course,” Gering Head Coach Jessica Boswell said.
“They were all hoping to do better than they did so now they know how much harder they need to work before districts so that they won’t be disappointed then. They all had some good holes and some bad holes so now as a team we will continue to work on our weaknesses.”
