Young John Johansen was sitting at his desk in the one room school house that fateful day in January of 1888. He was really not concentrating on his lessons. For him, school was secondary to riding horses, herding cattle, and checking fences with his older brother. As the teacherís voice faded from his mind, he looked outside noticing the very dark skies, hearing the powerful winds rattle the windows, and noting the ever increasing blinding snow...
