Fresh Foods presented a check to Gering’s Northfield Elementary School Booster Club at its Family Fun Night on April 15.
Fresh Foods’ Kerri Dishman said the $600 donation was part of their Loyalty to Local Program for non-profit organizations, which encourages families to shop locally.
“The kids saved their Fresh Foods receipts for the year and turned them in,” Dishman said. “We gave a percentage of the total back to them in appreciation for shopping locally.”
Zac Karpf, Booster Club president, said he was surprised at the amount of the donation.
“I also want to thank Camy Anderson, our booster volunteer for collecting all the receipts.”
Karpf said the donation will go toward buying musical instruments.
The Loyalty to Local Program began as a local endeavor last September that ran through March.
“There are a lot of local groups doing fundraising events through the year,” Dishman said. “This is an easy way for them to raise money just getting their groceries. Plus, it keeps their money in the valley, which benefits us all.”
