Chloey Reifschneider, who has anchored the midfield for the past four years on the Scottsbluff girls’ soccer team, will continue her playing career at Western Nebraska Community College.
“I chose to stay close to home,” Reifschneider said. “I had a lot of options, but this is the best decision for me. This is where I’m comfortable.”
Reifschneider has played both soccer and basketball since before she could remember, but it came down to her wanting to play soccer.
She will be majoring in elementary education and would like to coach in the future.
“I’m not much of a scorer on the team,” Reifschneider said. “I really like assisting and helping my teammates get goals. We’d like to go all the way in the district tournament, so we’ll see how it goes.”
Chad Larson, who coaches Reifschneider at Scottsbluff, said she’s a physical player. “She never backs down and helps pull the midfield together and up for any challenge from opponents. She has a way of winning the ball and getting it down the field.”
WNCC Coach Todd Rasnic said it’s exciting to get such a scrappy player. “She’ll be one of the 10 who will play tenacious to get victories,” he said. “In college soccer, the game is won in every battle on the field. Chloey has the capacity to bring that type of play to the team. She’s one of those athletes who has a high work ethic.”
