|Robidoux gets minor facelift|

Jerry Purvis/Gering Citizen Chris Bigsby of Eagle, Nebraska, a member of the family that homesteaded in the area, helps remove chinking from the Robidoux Trading Post in Carter Canyon.
Despite rain in the forecast, area and state volunteers headed into Carter Canyon, southwest of Gering, last weekend to perform maintenance at the Robidoux Trading Post.
Built in the early 1990s, the post is a replica of one built in the 1850s by the Robidoux Brothers, a stopping off point which provided a much needed respite to emigrants travelling west along the Oregon Trail.
