|Flooding causes zoo, businesses to close|

Courtesy Photo The Riverside Discovery Center zoo, along with the park, campground and YMCA camp, are closed due to flooding caused by a wet spring and levels of water in the North Platte River.
Riverside Discovery Center Director Anne James said “the zoo has basically become an island in the North Platte River.”
James’ statement came after flooding forced a May 22 evacuation of the Riverside Park and Campground. Above-average precipitation and the North Platte River’s rising water also raised public safety concerns.
