Jerry Purvis/Gering Citizen The Scotts Bluff County Detention facility brought back juveniles awaiting court dates. Housing them at other locations as a solution to overcrowding ended up being an inconvenient money drain.
As of September 7, juvenile housing reopened at the Scotts Bluff County Detention facility.
Patricia Miller, Interim Director of the Detention Center, told the county board that moving the juvenile population to facilities in eastern Nebraska has caused a number of difficulties.
“Attorneys have to drive long distances to meet with their clients,” Miller said. “The juveniles have to be brought back here for court date...
