Members of the Minatare School Board were recognized for their commitment to excellence during a regional meeting of the Nebraska Association of School Boards.
The association’s board of directors and staff met August 31 at the Gering Civic Center to present Awards of Achievement to members of the school board.
The event was attended by Alicia Hassel, John Chavez and LeAnn Lovato.
“Our school board members are all committed to professional development,” said Minatare School Superintendent Tim Cody.
“We try to attend every workshop they offer. I’m pleased with the guidance we receive from the school board.”
According to Cody, Minatare’s school board members have not only committed themselves to providing a quality education for the students in the district, but also to their own professional development to become stronger board members.
With regular attendance at association workshops and events, board members learn to strengthen their roles in governance, legislative advocacy and stewardship of district resources in support of student achievement.
The Nebraska Association of School Boards is a private, nonprofit organization that serves the needs of Nebraska public school districts and Educational Service Unit board members. They work for board development through year-round training workshops and conferences.
