After 20+ years of operating for community betterment, the Gering Business Club has a new name and a new vision for the future.

With the new name “The Business Club,” the group will kick off its new season in January 2017. The group will look different in 2017, changing the frequency of its meetings and introducing a different format to achieve the vision for the future.

The Business Club will meet once a month, on the third Wednesday of the month, in January, February, March and April of 2017. There will be “First Five” spotlights on local businesses in the first minutes of each meeting, dynamic speakers once a month, and an elevated lunch offering for the new season of The Business Club. As always, there are no dues or reservations required to attend The Business Club; cost of lunch for each monthly meeting will be $11.

Karla Niedan-Streeks, Executive Director for the Gering Convention and Visitors Bureau, said at the end of the 2015-2016 season, several new and long-time members were discussing how to create a stronger Business Club, one that people would want to join and get actively involved. They envisioned a new club that would not only feature guest speakers from the community, but would also provide opportunities to network and build relationships with other business owners and entrepreneurs.

“Being a member of a club and participating in its activities has enormous rewards,” Niedan-Streeks said. “Participants learn new things and make lasting business and personal relationships. Individuals network and share ideas which, in turn, strengthens our communities and builds bonds with our partner communities.”

The updated name reflects the participation of businesses and individuals in Gering, Scottsbluff, and Terrytown. Niedan-Streeks said it’s their mission to create an environment where people can achieve their entrepreneurial goals.

More plans will be announced in the coming months. For more information, contact Karla Niedan-Streeks at the Gering Convention and Visitors Bureau at 308-436-6886 or Amy Doll at Western States Bank at 308-633-8213.
