MITCHELL — After Minatare finished its regular season with two big wins over Hyannis and Potter-Dix, the Indians failed to continue their string, losing to Sioux County in the first round of the Boys’ D2-12 sub-district action at Mitchell High School, 53-47.
The Warriors erupted for a 21-point third period behind the hot 3-point shooting of junior guard Jonathan Dunn.

Sioux County then advanced to meet top seed Leyton in a battle of Warriors which saw the No. 1 Leyton Warriors down the Sioux County Warriors 54-32 on Tuesday. Leyton never trailed as it built their lead up over 20 points and held it there most of the evening.
In the other bracket, Potter-Dix dominated Banner County most of the night posting a six-point victory, 48-42. The Coyotes ended the Wildcats’ season, but not before they put up a fight battling back from a prolonged, double-digit deficit to make a game of it late. Senior Ty Ottoson went up high for several key rebounds and played smart defense to lead the way for the rest of the team to do the scoring.

Potter-Dix will need to continue to play well as the Coyotes face No. 1 seed Leyton in the D2-12 sub-district championship Thursday at 7 p.m. in Mitchell.
