WNCC to host soccer camp
     2012-07-19      By The Gering Citizen
SCOTTSBLUFF — Western Nebraska Community College soccer coach Todd Rasnic wanted to remind individuals that the WNCC soccer camp will begin in two weeks. The camp runs July 23 – 27 at the Landers Soccer Complex in Scottsbluff.
Rasnic said that there are still plenty of openings in the camp. Last year’s camp had nearly 100 participants. Rasnic said returning Cougar players will help with the camp this season, including Gering’s Mason Nab, Cody Thompson and Joey Rasnic. Next year’s Cougar men’s and women’s soccer team will have 11 area players on the two teams, including incoming freshmen Scottsbluff’s Tyler Patrick, Justine Becerra, and Megan Patrick; Gering’s Dani Copsey and Chanice Blanco; and Torrington’s Caitlyn Cummings, Dan Arnold and Donovan Valentine.
There will be two camps this year. The first session, from 9 a.m. – noon is for recreational players. The camp will help players of all ages with their soccer abilities in a fun learning atmosphere. The second camp will run from 5 – 8 p.m. and is for more competitive players to help them fine tune their soccer abilities. The second camp will be more intense than the morning camp.
The cost of the camp is $90 per session and includes a camp soccer ball and T-shirt. If players sign up for both sessions, the cost is $80 per session. Also, there is a $10 discount for families with more than one participant.
For more information, contact Rasnic at (308) 631-8833, or rasnict@wncc.net. Camp registrations can be downloaded from the WNCC athletic website at sports.wncc.net. Online registration is available at www.wnccsoccer.com. Camp flyers can also be picked up at the WNCC athletic office.
