The Scotts Bluff County Fair Bull Riding Extravaganza will be held Thursday, Aug. 2, at 7:30 p.m. According to fair promotional material, organized rodeos have been around since the mid 1800s beginning as a friendly means of entertainment. Spectators quickly recognized the thrill and danger involved in bull riding and soon it became the most popular event at most rodeos. In the 1980s bull riding became an exclusive event separate from other traditional rodeo competitions. Over 20 cowboys will test their skills and courage against 2,000 pound bulls. Thrills for all ages can be expected as the cowboys hold on tight for the ride of their lives. General admission ticket prices - $7 adults, $4 children 6-12, 5 and under free.
