NORTH PLATTE — The Gering girls‘ golf team shot a season-best team score 357 to earn a runner-up finish at the North Platte Invitational on Friday.

Bulldog Senior Kaitlyn Krzyzanowski won her second individual title of the young season with a season-low score of 75.

Junior teammate Amber Fertig carded an 89 and took the ninth-place medal on a scorecard playoff. Sophomore Sam Rahmig missed a medal by just one stroke with a round of 92. Bulldog junior Kendall Bayne shot a 102 and sophomore Ashlynn Schultz had a 101.

“The Bulldogs had a good day,” Gering coach Annie Boggs said.
McCook ran away with the team title with the Bison shooting a four-player count of 340. McCook had the No. 2-3-4 finishers, with Megan Vetrovsky and Kaylee Samway finishing second and third a stroke behind Krzyzanowski.

Gering was back in action on Tuesday at the Chadron Invitational and looks to play well next Tuesday, when the Bullldogs play host to the Gering Invitational. The tournament at Monument Shadows Golf Course tees off at 9 a.m.
