Local wrestlers claim state championships

OMAHA – Three Scottsbluff High School wrestlers claimed state titles at the Class B state wrestling tournament in Omaha on Saturday.
Tyler Nation, Colton Adams and Willie Schwartzkopf came home with gold medals and their wins helped Scottsbluff finish in fifth place in the team standings at state.
Gering’s Francisco Garcia won fifth place in his division. Gering tied with Chadron at 27th in the team standings.
Sidney’s Sean Neal earned a fourth place win at state.
In Class C, Keagon Blanco and Bryce Wiedeman of Mitchell won second place medals. Mitchell placed 12th in the team standings.
In Class D, Travis Willey of Bayard brought home a fourth-place win. His team was 40th in the team standings.
