The Westco Zephyrs Senior Legion baseball team will have a busy weekend in preparation for their visit to Oregon Trail Park on Tuesday to play the Gering Platte Valley Companies Post 36 Seniors .
The Zephyrs are 8-7 on the season heading into Wednesday's game at Chadron. Westco then plays host to Wheatland, Wyo., in a doubleheader Saturday at Cleveland Field, starting at 2 p.m. The

Zephyrs then travel to Windsor, Colo., for a twin bill Sunday starting at 11 a.m.
This week's action follows a tough weekend of road action for the Zephyrs.
Westco avenged an 11-8 loss at Douglas, Wyo., with a 14-5 romp on Saturday, but then the Zephyrs suffered a doubleheader sweep to Greeley, Colo., on Sunday.

In the second game against Douglas, Westco erupted for six runs in the fourth inning to erase a 4-3 Douglas lead. The Zephyrs added two runs in each of the fifth and seventh innings to finish with the nine-run victory.

Westco's six-run rally featured an RBI single by Jacob Schmid, a two-run double by Leighton Freeze, a groundout by Robbie Cantril and a two-run single by Andres Morales.
Eric Moreno led the Zephyrs at the plate by going 3-for-3, with three singles.

Beau Lofink was Westco's winning pitcher. He overcame allowing the five Douglas runs by striking out 11 and walking four in the nine-hit, complete-game effort.
In the first game, Westco had a 6-2 lead after a five-run rally in the second inning, but Douglas cut its deficit to one in the bottom of the second and then took command with a five-run third inning.
Westco had eight hits, with Cantril reaching base three times. He homered in the second inning and had two RBI in the game. Cantril gained base by walks his two other times.

Schmid had a two-run single in the top of the fourth inning, which pulled the Zephyrs to within two at 10-8 but could muster no more in taking the first-game loss.
Rogelio Gurrola was 2-for-4 for Westco, scoring twice and driving home one run. Schmid went 2-for-4 for the game with one run scored. Morales took the pitching loss.

On Sunday, the Zephyrs ran into a tough Greeley team that scored nine runs in the first inning of the opener on its way to scoring an 18-4 win in five innings. Greeley completed the sweep with a 7-0 shutout.

Westco garnered seven hits in the opener, with Austin Murphy the lone multiple hitter by going 2-for-2. Ty Wilson added a third-inning double to drive home one run and scored himself in going 1-for-2. Leighton Freeze had a two-run single. Dylon Busskohl took the pitching loss.

In the second game, Greeley pitcher Nathan Smythe held the Zephyrs to just three hits over five innings. Greeley put the game under run rule with a four-run fourth inning.
Cantril, Morales and Schmid had singles for Westco, and Moreno was the losing pitcher after allowing all seven runs and nine hits with two strikeouts and one walk over four innings.

Tuesday's game against Gering is set for a 7:30 p.m. start.
