The Gering booster club held its annual Fall Kick-Off Picnic Thursday, offering parents to meet coaches and other players participating in fall sports activities. There was a large crowd for the picnic which was later moved to the auditorium for a meeting where Activities Director Glen Koski, encouraged students to be competitive on a state-wide basis, not just in the panhandle.

Athletic Trainer and Physical Therapist Mike Moravec gave a presentation on concussions, outlining procedures for treating and returning concussion athletes to play. Later, parents and students broke into individual teams for a meeting with their coach.

The cost to join the Gering High School Booster Club is $20 per family. The next booster club meeting will be Wednesday, Sept. 4, at 6 p.m. in the Gering High School Library. For more information, email President Deb Pieper at geringhsboosterclub@gmail.com
