Eleven teams are scheduled to converge on Western Nebraska Community College’s Cougar Palace on Saturday for the Scottsbluff Duals wrestling tournament. Action is set to begin at 9 a.m.

The tournament is at WNCC this year because Scottsbluff is playing host to the Greater Nebraska Athletic Conference Basketball Tournament, which is Thursday through Saturday.

Joining Scottsbluff and Gering as Nebraska schools competing in the tournament are Nebraska City and West Point-Beemer.

Pools were to be set by mid-week but were unavailable before the Citizen’s early press time this week.

Out-of-state schools scheduled to compete include two from South Dakota in Martin-Bennett County and Hot Springs; Cheyenne Central and Sheridan from Wyoming; Colorado schools Jefferson, Monarch and Smoky Hill; and Garden City, Kan.

Banner County, Bayard, Mitchell and Morrill resume action next Thursday, Jan. 9, in the Western Trails Conference Tournament at Gordon-Rushville.

Minatare’s wrestling schedule resumes Jan. 11 at the Garden County invitational in Oshkosh.
