Scottsbluff/Gering girls swimming and diving team had a solid performance Saturday, claiming seventh place in the always tough Greeley West Invitational in Greeley, Colo.

The Seacats hadn’t competed since earning two dual wins Dec. 20 at McCook.

Cierra Weatherfield had one of the top performances for Scottsbluff/Gering, earning a fifth-place finish in the 500-yard freestyle and an eighth-place finish in the 200 individual medley.

Vanessa Woolsey also swam well, taking eighth place in the 100 backstroke and 11th place in the 100 butterfly. Sarah Cloud was eighth in the 100 breaststroke.

The Scottsbluff/Gering girls won’t compete again until Jan. 24-25 in the annual Twin City Invitational at the Scottsbluff High School Splash Arena.

The Scottsbluff/Gering boys opened the second-semester season with a dual Tuesday at Cheyenne South and today (Thursday) at Cheyenne Central. The Seacat boys will then return to Cheyenne South on Jan. 18 to compete in the Cheyenne Invitational before the Twin City meet a week later.
