Young archer, Frank Thompson, from Alliance, takes careful aim at a 3-D deer target.
HEMINGFORD — Two local area archery clubs will be holding the 3rd Annual Wildcat Hills 3-D Shootout in the Wildcat Hills south of Gering on June 11 and 12. The Alliance Archery Club and Western Nebraska Archery Association teamed up to put on a 3-D shoot that has 50 3-D targets each day of the shoot.

“This is the third year for the shoot. The first shoot was short notice and we didn’t have a lot of shooters. The second shoot we had lots of advertising for the shoot and it rained both days of the shoot but we still had some shooters that braved the rain. Hopefully this will be a third times a charm.” Said Dan Anderson President of the Alliance Archery Club.

The Clubs take turns cooking the noon meal that is included in the entry fees for the shooters. At the past shoots we have had shooters from Colorado, Wyoming and South Dakota. There is primitive camping at the shoot site or close to the shoot site with bathrooms near by.

There will be a cash payback to the top three shooters in the Adult classes. Top 3 Youth shooters will receive medals and all the Cub shooters will receive participation ribbons.

Anyone wanting more information on the shoot can go to www.westernnebraskaarchery.org or 3dshoots.com.
