The Mitchell golf team has goals like any sports team. However, this year head coach Brock Ehler has more personal goals for his team. “My main goal for the kids is give them the opportunity to learn more about themselves through the game of golf,” said Ehler.

Facing adversity and accepting difficult challenges is not only a concept taught in golf but very much a part of day to day life.

“I would like them to learn self-control and how they need to keep themselves professionally composed during difficult or seemingly unfair situations,” said Ehler. The team has 11 golfers this season. Six are returning golfers and five students who are completely new to the game of golf. Despite having five unexperienced golfers, Ehler says that they are ready and eager for the challenges of the game.

Another goal for the Tigers this season is to place high in both of the conferences this year. They would like to also qualify for state which will require a top three finish out of the fifteen teams in District 4. This year they have four returning golfers who Ehler feels will be strong competitors this season. “They each began golfing their 9th grade years so it has been a pleasure to watch them grow and golfers and young adults,” said Ehler.
