MORRILL — Trevor Chesnut is the new head coach for the Morrill boys’ golf team and said he’s looking forward to a successful season.

“The team has been practicing a lot since the weather improved,” he said. “After looking at the scores they shot last year, I think that with some coaching they will improve dramatically.”

He added he sees a lot of potential with the team, but it’s up to them to put in the time and effort to take strokes off their game.

A couple of his players are showing some real potential, and Chesnut said he looks forward to seeing how the season unfolds.

“I told the guys our main thing is to have fun,” he said. “If we have fun, great things will come to us and I guaranteed them they will improve this year. I’m not a coach that puts a lot of pressure on the team, but I’ll be there to lead them the right way. But it’s all up to them to take the time to work on improving their own game.”

Morrill will open their 2014 season on Tuesday, April 8 on the road at Bayard.
