The Championship of the Gering Girls Softball Association was Tuesday evening with the Gering Valley Plumbing Benjamin Franklin team taking on Campos Insulation. The game went to the top of the seventh inning with Gering Valley Plumbing prevailing 10-5.

Head Coach Troy Svoboda said “We were third in the league play; however, we were undefeated in the tournament and won the championship in one game.” Dennis Wademan was the assistant coach of Gering Valley Plumbing. The team members all received a first place medal for their win. Look for some of these same girls playing for the Gering High School Bulldogs this fall.

The G.G.S.A the 8U, 10U, 12U, and 18U leagues also finished up this week with tournament play.

In the 8U group, the Gering Citizen team took first place while Wholesale Motive took second place. In the 10U division, Valley Insurance came in second while Scottsbluff Transfer took the first place finish. The Dooley Oil team received third.

The 12U group proceeded to have the Greg’s Auto Body team in third place while Island and Huff took runner-up leaving Main Street Appliance with the victory.
