Bulldogs begin fall conditioning

Coach Justin Clark talks to team members Tyler Pszanka, Nolan Nelson, and Austin Abbott during a conditioning practice this week.
Both football and softball conditioning has begun this fall as both teams prepare for their seasons. With a new year underway, football head coach Jimmy Rhodes is confident in his team’s abilities.

“I’m excited for a fresh start and to see the team come together as a unit. These boys are really using what is in their lunch box from previous years and bringing it to work every day,” Rhodes said.

Throughout conditioning, Rhodes wants to keep pushing positivity so the boys will be able to take it with them into their season.

“I am seeing some really great leadership from the older guys and also some younger guys who are stepping in right away. We want to keep continuing what we usually do and always keep a positive and upbeat attitude,” Rhodes said.

Before the Bulldogs officially start their season, they will be hosting the Gatorade Scrimmage on Aug. 22 at 7 p.m. The scrimmage will feature kids from 7th grade through 12th grade. The first football game of the year will take place at home against Hastings on Aug. 29 at 7 p.m.

Softball is also off to a great start this year. Head coach Tim Gonzalez has seen many positive things in the few days he has worked with the girls. The team camp stood out in particular for him.

“Before conditioning, we held a team camp which turned out to be a really good deal. Lots of girls showed up and there was a lot of great teamwork and team bonding,” Gonzalez said.

As their season is quickly approaching, Gonzalez is confident that it will be a good year for the Lady Bulldogs.

“Overall, everything is going really well. The girls are giving it everything they have and really getting into shape. They are doing everything to the best of their abilities and I honestly think there is no where to go but up. There has been some great senior leadership on the team as well. I think we will have a great year and we’ll be right where we want to be by the time we go to districts,” Gonzalez said.
The girls will begin their season in Aurora on Aug 22 at 4:30 p.m.
