Andy Pepler 7th annual Memorial Tournament a big success at SBCC
2011-07-14      By Pedro Escobar, Citizen Intern
Andy Pepler graduated from Scottsbluff High School in 1977. He then went on to play college baseball and basketball.

After college Pepler decided to come back to Scottsbluff and joined the family business selling cars at Pepler Auto Sales.

“Being in the car business, Andy sold cars because he had a million best friends,” said long time friend Jim Reinhardt. “He always sponsored a kid to play sports; he loved to see kids have opportunities in athletics.”

Rod Ehler, former baseball coach for Scottsbluff High School, and a group of friends decided to start this memorial golf tournament in honor of Pepler.

At first benefits would proceed to the Scottsbluff Booster Club, and for the last couple of years the benefits have gone to West Nebraska Special Olympics.

In the seven years this tournament has been put on it has raised over 97 thousand dollars.
“It’s an amazing phenomenon that a few friends started this thing and it has raised almost 100 thousand dollars in seven years,” said Reinhardt.
