Head coach Josh Guerue said while his team didn’t take in conference or district titles last year he is hoping to change that with this years’ effort. “We want to compete for conference and district titles,” he said. “Last season we went 11-11. I want to see the team be competitive in all our games.”

Guerue said the girls are continuing to grow together as a family. “One of our goals is to develop strong young women that will be very productive members of our community. We will also focus on community service this year.”

The Lady Lions are part of the Western Trails Conference and the PAC Conference. They play in District D-12 as a Class D-1 school.
“We have had a great start to the season,” Guerue said. “Our summer was very productive and we are encouraged by their play.”

Coach Guerue added that the team is very young but also hungry for success.

“This will be a learning process for the majority of our players. We feel like we will be able to compete with everyone on our schedule. How we handle the ups and downs of the season will determine our success this year.”

Guerue said to expect a very aggressive team with overall team speed. He said the players all have a high basketball I.Q. that will help them through the learning curve of the Varsity game.

“Team chemistry is great on this team,” Guerue said, “and they will to lean on each other as we move forward.”

A total of 13 girls are on the team this year including upperclassmen seniors Kaite Howell and Traci Sinner. Returning junior Leanne Sherrod was also noted for offering leadership.

Guerue has been coaching basketball for 10 seasons and this year is working with Josie Ryan who serves as JV/Varsity Assistant.
