The Banner County Wildcat boys’ basketball team has been working hard and plans to be competitive in their tough Minuteman Activities Conference D2-11 division.

Sporting a 9-13 record from last season, first year head coach Cole Wyatt said the 13-member team has been practicing hard and he’s pleased with the progress they’ve made in the early season.

“Our goal is always to compete for a conference championship and a subdistrict championship,” Wyatt said. “We have some great competition on our schedule this year. Leyton has been tough the last few years. Garden County and Potter- Dix are also teams we like to play.”

He said Tyson Dahlgrin had a very good season last year and will be a returning starter. “Tyson has done a great job in leading the team and keeping the kids focused.”

Wyatt said other starters returning this season are Kaden Huber and Mike McKown. Some of the newer players have been showing promise early on, including Cresencio Castillo, Hesten Soule and Cole Blanke.
“I’ve been an assistant with the team for the past four years,” Wyatt said, “so I know the kids pretty well. Brett Cross is my assistant this year.”

Wyatt said his goal is to see all the kids improve with every game they play, continue to work hard and grow as a team.
