WNCC's Rasnic named North Division Coach of the Year

WNCC’s Todd Rasnic, who led the Cougars to 10-4-3 record and the No. 1 seed in the Region IX tournament in men's soccer, earned North Division Coach of the Year.  
The Western Nebraska Community College men’s soccer team was well represented on Region IX North all-region team that was released after the soccer season.

WNCC’s Todd Rasnic, who led the Cougars to 10-4-3 record and the No. 1 seed in the Region IX tournament, earned North Division Coach of the Year. This was Rasnic’s 10th year in coaching the men’s team and the team finished with the most wins in school history since the inaugural season in 2003.

WNCC also had the North Division Player of the Year as sophomore Ivan Sakou was selected for that honor. Sakou finished the year with 16 goals and six assists to finish with 27 points. The 16 goals is the most goals in one season, breaking the record of 15 that was set in 2011 by Jose Netto and Baboucarr Sarr.

The Cougar men also six players on the first team and another four on the second team.

Cougar players making the first team include Sakou of Camaroon, Malik Mennana of Centennial, Colo., as forwards; David Hernandez of Aurora, Colo., and Mark Campbell of Manchester, England as midfielders; Akcel Garcia of Greeley, Colo., as a defender; and Miguel Enriquez of Aurora, Colo., as a goalkeeper.

Those earning second team honors included Connor Francis of Denver, Colo., and Blake Wills of Scottsbluff as defenders, and Omar Guzman of Denver, Colo., and Sage Pemberton of Pleasant Grove, Utah as defenders.
