Scottsbluff boys win Broken Bow track meet

BROKEN BOW, Neb. — The Scottsbluff boys took first place at the Broken Bow track meet, while the Lady Bearcats came in third. The Bearcat boys scored 151 points for first place. The rest of the boys’ team results are, second place McCook 137, third place Holdrege 121, fourth place Broken Bow 38, fifth place Gothenburg 32, and sixth place, a tie between Cozad 22, and Ord 22.

Matthew Richardson picked up a double win in the 400 meter race, 52.81, and the 800 meter at 2:04.97. Matthew Barraza had gold in the 1600 meter race, crossing the line in 4:38.49. Shane Burkey contributed a win in the 3200 race at 10:09.42.

The girls clenched a third place finish with 87 points. The rest of the girls’ team scores are as follows: 1 Holdrege 169, 2. Ord 118, 3. Scottsbluff 87, 4. Gothenburg 50, 5. McCook 40, 6. Cozad 35, 7. Broken Bow 2.The Lady Cats got wins in the 1600 by Shayleigh James 5:38.08 and 3200 by Whitney Riesen 12:16.96.

Scottsbluff Coach Jim Barker said the meet went very well for the boys. “We had great performances in most of the events. We won four events and we picked up eight seconds on the boys’ side,” he said. “The girls did an outstanding job as well. They had some personal bests. We are getting better every week and we look forward to our Alliance invitational meet this week.”
