Legion’s B and C Steel juniors look forward to baseball season
     2015-06-04      By Philip Eckerberg
The Gering B and C Steel Junior Legion Baseball team Head Coach Pat O’Boyle is looking forward to the baseball season. O’Boyle said “Our goal is to get better each game,” he said. O’Boyle acknowledges they are a young team with much to learn in a short span of time. “That is what baseball is about,” he said. “We get to play each day and hopefully we get better each day. We have some growing pains but we are getting better with that, understanding the game more in different situations,” he said. “I am very happy with their work ethic and hopefully, we can continue with that.”

O’Boyle will be looking at his experienced older players to do their jobs. “They know what we want and know how to do things,” he said. O’Boyle pointed to the leadership on the team as Chris Palomo, Dalton Scott, Mike Gutherless, Luciano Montanez, Austin Abbott, and Dylan Radzymski. “Those guys are warhorses. We expect them to do a lot,” he said. “It’s early but I like our young guys, hey all have attributes that contribute to the team.” O’Boyle said the team is coming together as a group, demonstrating a lot of faith in themselves as they work to develop in each practice and game. “They are buying in to the team.”

The junior Legion roster includes: #1 Austin Abbott, #5 Chris Palomo, #6 Dalton Scott, #11 Kaden Leonard, #12 Lance Garcia, #14 Nick Watkins, #16 Nate Blackos, #21 Brayden Tarr, #22 Garrett Conn, #25 Dylan Radzysmski, #26 Quinton Janecek, #27 Luciano Monanez, #28 Riley Grote, #33 Logan Murdock, #38 Mike Gutherless, #39 Jerald Ybarra, #50 Quinten Onstott, and #55 Kyle Schroeder.
