Trent Harris – Scottsbluff
Scottsbluff girls’ basketball coach Rachel Larson and Minatare boys’ coach Kyle Cotton, who led their respective teams into state tournament play in march, will be coaches for the Red teams in Saturday’s 21st annual Panhandle Prep All-Star Basketball Classic.

Action is at Western Nebraska Community College’s Cougar Palace. Girls game starts at 5:30 p.m., with the boys’ contest starting at about 7:30 p.m. Finals of the 3-point contest will be at halftime of the girls’ game, and the slam dunk contest will precede the warmups to the boys’ game.

Tickets at the gate will be $5, with children age 6 and under admitted free.
The West girls’ team will include one of Larson’s own Scottsbluff players in Aubree Ford. The Bearcats got on a late-season roll to win the District B-6 championship to qualify for state for the first time since 2011 and had just two seniors.
Three other county-area players are all on the Blue girls’ team, including a pair of recent Mitchell graduates in Kady Lower and McKenna Zulkoski. Chellani Parriott also is in the Blue team.

Bridgeport has two girls, one on each team. Megan Dudden joins Ford on the Red team, while Olga Aguilar is on the Blue.

Cotton, who coached Minatare to a fourth-place state finish and 22-4 overall record, has one of his own Indians in recent graduate Javier Guerrero.
The Red team is loaded with county-area players, including Scottsbluff graduates Trent Harris and Ashley Jones, Justin Baird and Tyler Fiscus of Bayard and Tyson Dahlgrin of Banner County.

The Blue boys’ team, coach by Eric Calkins of Chadron, features Mitchell’s Antonio Barrios and Bridgeport’s Jason Amateis.
