Minatare plans mud volleyball tourney

Things will get dirty in Minatare next month as the Minatare Community Development Organization is hosting a big mud volleyball tournament on Saturday, Aug. 15.

The organization’s Lori Lore said they’re also working on getting some craft vendors to attend, which will be across the street from Remington Club, near the city water tower.

“We’re also planning some events for the kids and other activities,” Lore said. “We’re meeting later this month to finalize the schedule, but mud volleyball will definitely be happening.”

There’s a limit of 25 teams for the tournament and teams must be 50-50 co-ed. The cost is $10 per player and the deadline for signing up is Aug. 9. Registration may be made by calling Lori Lore at (308) 672-7059 or Brian Lore at (308) 631-7479.

“We’ll have some other stuff during the day, so people should call to learn what’s going on,” she said.

Lore said the Minatare Community Development Organization is an outgrowth of the Minatare Chamber that later left to form its own organization. “The Chamber is a good group, but an aging membership didn’t have time to get much done,” she said. “We formed our own group of younger people who want to make some improvements to the community. That’s our focus.”

The group recently adopted and area of town during the annual trash cleanup campaign that proved highly successful.
The Minatare Community Development Organization is also seeking float entries, along with food and craft vendors. Information is available by calling Carolyn at (308) 220-8284.
