GERING - The Eddie’s Huskers team captured their second straight Western Nebraska Community College Cougar Golf Classic overall title on Saturday, June 11 at Monument Shadows Golf Course in Gering.
Eddie’s Huskers, comprised of team members Mike McKee, Matt Hessler, Rick Gable, and Ed Ratliff won the golf classic with a score of 49.65 over the Legends team of John Gillen, Mike Shaddick, Jim Cauble and Howard Olsen with a 50.25 score.

There were 19 teams entered in this year’s golf classic that benefits the WNCC athletic department.

Also picking up a first-place finish in the COED division was the Platte Valley Companies team comprised of Brady Mitchell, Jeff Maser, Amy Hauser, and Tammy Hoffman. PVC shot a 53.55, just beating the all-women team of Stacy Mitchell, Maria Winn-Ratliff, Wendy Goos, and Stacy Celli.

On top of the best score first-place winners, three other teams also won prize money by drawing out team names. First place draw winners went to Roy’s Plumbing and Heating (Tim Rojas, Bob Bennett, Roy Rojas, and Brady Uhrich), second-place draw went to Team 4, which was the all-women’s team of Goos, Mitchell, Winn-Ratliff, and Celli, and third place draw went to the Gealy’s (Jerry Gealy, Jordan Gealy, Tyler Gealy, and Clarence Gealy).

Individual hole prizes were also awarded. The winners included Lisa Misner on hole 2 (long putt women); Tim Misner on hole 4 (longest drive men); Jordan Gealy on hole 5 (closest to pin in 2); Doug Jones on hole 8 (shortest drive men); Jeff Dunn on hole 9 (closest to water); Maria Winn-Ratliff on hole 10 (longest drive women); Brady Uhrich on hole 12 (closest to sand); Mick Hartwig on hole 13 (closest to pin off tee shot); Danielle Darnell on hole 15 (shortest drive women); and Marty McNabb on hole 18 (longest putt men).
