CHEYENNE, WYO — Gering High School cross country runners prepared for the upcoming district meet Friday by toughing it out in the Cheyenne, Wyo wind. “It’s a tough course. Mentally we wanted to get ready for districts. We just wanted to go out and feel good about the race and I think we did that,” said boys coach Rick Marez. “I think we have a pretty good shot as a team for districts. Ryan Bustinza should be in the top five. I hope to get at least three runners in the top 15 but it’s a tough district.” Marez went on to compliment the Scottsbluff team, saying they are “really good” and referenced Lexington and Hastings also as teams to beat. We just want to get out there and compete and we’ll see how it all shakes out,” said Marez.
