Bayard’s Araujo, Smith among among top finishers at Kimball

KIMBALL — High school Cross Country teams from around the region converged on Kimball for a meet on Sept. 11.

Winning the girls’ division was Ann Sanchez of Cheyenne with a time of 21:13. Bayard’s Jessie Smith finished second at 22:37.

Other top 10 finishers included Jessee Monahan of Cheyenne in third with 22.39, Matison Mikesell of Pine Bluffs in fourth at 22:56, Dori Schneider of Bridgeport in fifth with a time of 23:02, Celeste Morales of Pine Bluffs in sixth at 23:25, Cheyenne’s Luchia Zuver in seventh at 23:34, Kelsey Faircloth of Pine Bluffs in eights with a 24:01 time, Cheyenne’s Brittany Whitcomb in ninth at 24:02 and Bridgeport’s Marissa Widener finishing 10th at 24:05.

In the boys’ division at Kimball, Jorge Garcia of Pine Bluffs took the top spot with a time of 17:52. In second was Alex Araujo of Bayard with a time of 18:32. Third and fourth places both went to Cheyenne runners – Will Nolan at 18:40 and Cole Valdez at 18:51.

In fifth place was Kimball’s Brandon Barker with an 18:55 time. Sixth place was Ryan Gissendanner of Cheyenne with a 19:06 time. Jack Linders of Bridgeport was in seventh with 19:15, Aran Lovato of Cheyenne in eighth with 19:34, Bridgeport’s Kody Spencer in ninth with 19:54 and Toby Phillips of Hemingford rounding out the top 10 with a time of 20:00.
