ALLO donates to Gering schools

Technology at Gering High School got a big upgrade Friday night as school officials received a $10,000 check from the ALLO for Education Campaign.

This is the second year of the program, sponsored by ALLO Communications. Over the summer months, new customers were able to choose a school for ALLO to donate $50 on their behalf.

“ALLO for Education is our way of giving back to the communities we serve,” said President Brad Moline. “What better way to tie the technology we offer with the schools.”

This year’s ALLO for Education Campaign raised more than $31,000 to be donated back to schools in communities where ALLO offers its fiber service.

“We hope the schools will then reinvest the money into something in their school that’s technology related,” Moline said. “The schools have been really happy we care about what they’re doing because their budgets are always tight. They think it’s a great way of supporting our schools and our communities.”

According to Gering School Superintendent Bob Hastings, the funds will be used to incorporate a projection system, screen and sound system into the high school gymnasium for use by the school and the public.
