Ten get all-region nod for men’s soccer

SCOTTSBLUFF — The Western Nebraska Community College men’s soccer team placed 10 players on the Region IX North All-region team that was released last month.

The Cougar men placed three players on the first team, two on the second teams, and five received honorable mention honors.

Players earning First Team recognition included Guilherme Oliveria, a freshman from Brazil, as a Forward; Omar Guzman, a sophomore from Denver, as a Midfielder; and CJ Francis, a sophomore from Denver, as a Defender.

Cougars earning Second Team honors included Matheus Campos, a freshman from Brazil, as a Midfielder, and Blake Wills, a sophomore from Scottsbluff, as a Defender.

Those earning honorable mention All-Region North honors included Billy Hoffman, a freshman from Longmont, Colorado, and Tyler Robinson, a freshman from Columbia, Missouri, as Midfielders; Ademiju Oshikoya, a freshman from London, and Jorge Ortega, a sophomore from Aurora, Colorado, as Defenders; and Miguel Enriquez, a sophomore from Aurora, Colorado, as a Goalkeeper.

Additional awards selected by the Region IX North coaches included MVP going to Western Wyoming’s Mitch Jensen, Freshman of the Year to Laramie County’s Rafael Munoz, and Coach of the Year to Laramie County’s Vince Gibson
