Sure Shot Gun Range at 1342 10th St. in downtown Gering has been approved as an officially recognized Local Qualifying Location for American Marksman, a shooting competition TV show from the Outdoor Sportsman Group in Denver.

Amateur shooters from the local area have the chance to qualify to earn bids to the regional competition and ultimately for the American Marksman national championship. Finalists will compete for a $50,000 grand prize and the title of the first American Marksman.

Marksmen may register online at ammarksman.com, then go to Sure Shot to complete the qualifying course during March, April and May of 2016.

The course includes .22 caliber rifles, handguns or both. Scores are then uploaded to the American Marksman leaderboards on their website.
The TV show will begin airing in December on both the Outdoor Channel and the Sportsman Channel networks.

“We couldn’t be more proud and excited to be named as an official local qualifying range for American Marksman,” said Sure Shot owner Rich Schank. “Our organizations share the same goal, to bring new folks into the shooting sport in a safe environment. We look forward to welcoming competitors into our facility beginning in March.”
