Softball districts underway
     2016-10-07      By Staff Report    editor@geringcitizen.com
The No. 4 seeded Gering softball team, sporting a 13-11 record, has been off since the Sept. 27 game against Alliance but Gering Coach Tim Gonzales said the break was good for them, as several of their starters have been hampered with various injuries, from knee problems to concussions.

“I’m looking forward to having healthy bodies back for the district tournament,” he said. “We should be ready to play as we’ve had some good practice time. We’ll be ready to give it our best effort and should do well.”

The Scottsbluff softball team brings its 13-15 record into the District tournament, scheduled for Oct. 6-7. While Scottsbluff is officially the home team, games will be played in Oregon Trail Park in Gering.

“Right now we’re just trying to sharpen a few things up,” said Coach Mike Gentry.
